And, The Winner Is
In Hollywood, the final two months of the calendar year, November and December, along with the proceeding first two months of the next calendar year, January and February, are known as Award Season. The season typically begins with the distribution of ballots for award shows to voters and concludes with the Academy Awards in late February/early March.
What many may not know is that the Jan-San Industry is currently in the midst of our own award season. It cannot be proven whether this timing is coincidental because Hollywood took a cue from our industry or vice versa. Either way, National Chemical Laboratories would like to recognize some of our own who were awarded for their excellence.
In December, the NCL National Sales Meeting was held at our training center in Philadelphia, PA. NCL has regional managers coast to coast, in every corner of the United States. This annual meeting gives everyone a chance to get together in person, in one location. These meetings also afford the managers an opportunity to reinforce training while all of our industry professionals can learn off of each other’s expertise.
These meetings conclude with the annual end-of-year award presentation. Rick Alicandro, Regional Manager for Maryland, Virginia, and Washington DC was recognized for Outstanding Performance in Education Sales.
“The many challenges that K-12 and higher educational facilities face today, are much greater than those which existed in the year 2000, when I first joined National Chemical Laboratories, as a Regional Sales Manager for Maryland, Virginia and Washington DC.
Custodial and facility managers are faced with meeting the highest of expectations, to keep their facilities clean and students healthy, while they face the everyday battles that consist of budget cuts, decreased staffing levels, and time constraints.
My full commitment to the concept and implementation of “Green Cleaning for Health and the Environment” not only helps me earn the business, but helps managers achieve or exceed those desired level of expectations, while facing those challenges each and every day.“
— Rick Alicandro
Regional Manager
This recent Awards Ceremony was capped off by the presentation of the 2015 Sales Master of the Year Award to Chris Smith, Regional Manager for Northern Florida. Smith’s work ethic, dedication, and persistence have produced impressive growth in his region. But, beyond the growth numbers, the true impact of Smith’s efforts can be felt at the local distributor and end user level. It is at that level where he is looked upon as not just a manufacturer representative, but as a trusted resource for their business. Providing solutions to the maintenance of a wide variety of flooring surfaces has also helped set Smith apart from his competition.
“…One thing that sets NCL apart from my competitors is our line of stone care products.”
— Chris Smith
Regional Manager
Following the award winning announcement by NCL Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Bill Smith, Chris Smith was presented with his commemoratory Sales Master blazer. Just as the winner of each year’s Masters Invitational Golf Tournament is presented with his green jacket from the previous year’s winner, Chris received his blazer from the 2014 Sales Master Award recipient, Mauricio Navarro. Mauricio is the Regional Manager for the Gulf Coast region of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and the Florida panhandle.
In addition to the Outstanding Performance in Education Sales and Sales Master Awards, the following Regional Managers were also presented with Milestone Awards for Sales Excellence:
– Chris Smith (northern Florida)
– Chris Robertson (New England)
– Jonathan Palecko (Southeastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey, Delaware)
– Max Hampshire (international sales)
“The sales performance of these individuals has been truly outstanding. Their work ethic, dedication and persistence is an inspiration to everyone in our company, and these will be key attributes to their continued sales success in the coming year and beyond.”
— Bill Smith

The accolades for our representatives continued into the New Year, when our Regional Manager representing Western Pennsylvania, Upstate New York, Eastern Ohio, and West Virginia, John Payerchin, was awarded with the Rising Star Vendor Award by the Chudy Paper Company, in the Buffalo suburb of Cheektowaga, New York.
“(John’s) commitment to our organization during 2015 was outstanding; and acts as an example for other product vendors. NCL has delivered on its commitment to us and we look forward to growing our business substantially in 2016!“
